Another Snow day! Another Cancellation, what to do now?

Yes, the midwest is under the Feb. Fury as the Weather Channel calls it. I personally love it and love snow days with my children. As far as my professional life, this can make a Silpada business challenging. How do I get out from under this weather situation and keep my business going?
I had to cancel my show last night because of safety reasons. The area where I was to be traveling was a Level 2 snow emergency. I would not be smart for any of my customers to travel or myself. First i used Postcalls.com and sent out a message to the entire guest list because I had their telephone numbers from reminder calls already. I then sent out a email through the email center to also contact any customers to tell them of the cancellation and reschedule date! Yes, I did ask my hostess to reschedule and she was kind enough to do this again. We already have canceled once due to inclement weather. Because she was so kind to work with me now a 3rd time, i am going to give her an additional $25 in free jewelry. I feel grateful for each and every hostess I have and i am hopeful for a re-booking next year!
Because I am snowed in, I will take this day to make phone calls related to Recruiting. Yes, Wed. is my recruiting day and I will do all activities related to that. What else can I do? I make up rep packets, follow up on telephone calls, send emails and put the final touches on my Business Opp Event/New Jewelry Preview scheduled for March 7th. The Sunday Call will feature info on "How to do a Business Opp Event/Jewelry Preview in March and Why. Please check your emails and plan to attend the Sunday March 14th at 9pm EST.

No School Today!

In the Midwest, we have been hit with a storm and my kids are out of school today. My kids, ages 13, 11, and 9 are right now running around the house and fighting about who gets to play the Wii. My goal today? Work in my office a couple of hours and spend some quality time with my kids.
What do I have to do today? I get to make Customer Care calls and Hostess Coach my upcoming Hostesses on their shows. I will also follow up with some calls i made yesterday and reschedule possibly my show for tonight because of the storm.
I love it when my kids have a snow day, but then the delicate balance that i so deeply need is now out of whack. So, how do I blend this? How do a integrate this? That is my constant quest...how can I be the Mom I want to be and run my business and take care of myself all at the same time? This is something I am constantly researching. i keep thinking if this is what I have to worry about, then it can't be all that bad. I am grateful for healthy children period.

I will speak kindly to my children today. I will only speak in soft tones toward my children...i will, i will, i will.

It took me longer than i thought, but now I am ready for the week!

Ok, it took me 2 hours and 2 min. I am through most of my piles and getting ready for the week now! Boy does it feel good. Tomorrow I have an appointment with California Closets to put in an organizer on the wall above my computer that i can easily reach. It will hold my current shows, calls to make, bookings, potential recruits and business development files. I will be able to reach all of these things easily. If i can post a picture, i will.
I am making myself use the Home and Work calendar i bought at Franklin Planner store...why is it so hard for me? I struggle with this kind of stuff. I have bought so many planners and never use them. I want to use them!
Because of the snow last weekend, i will be doing a rescheduled jewelry show on Tues. I am so glad to be able to still have the show in Feb.

Ok now it is family time. I am going to my kitchen to make dinner with at least one of my daughters, going to church at 530pm, come home and watch Super Bowl.

I set an alarm so i can stay focused.

I need to work in my office for one straight hour, focused on the task to complete and leave my office feeling like i have accomplished something. This is very hard for me, i never have the power to focus on a task, so I will set an alarm and do my very best!! My goal is to get all my work done so I can just be with my family for the rest of the day.
Clean up my desk
Answer emails
Make a few phone calls
Prepare for week, download calendar
Start a list for next week.


I can do it! I will let you know if I complete my goal in one hour!
